Have you wanted to know how to stop following Facebook friends and business pages?

Unfollowing a Facebook friend allows you to stop receiving posts without unfriending them, which can be awkward.

Facebook doesn’t notify someone that you unfriended them. However, once you have unfriended someone, you could come up in the list of people they might want to friend. If this happens, the person may wonder why you are on that list, being they thought the two of you are already friends.

And while you may have wanted to see posts from a business page when you first liked the page, perhaps you no longer want to see these posts. When you unfollow the page, you still like the page, but you don’t see posts from it in your newsfeed.

How to Stop Following a Facebook Friend

  • You can unfollow a friend directly from your newsfeed by clicking on the three dots at the top right of their post and choosing “Unfollow.”
  • You can also go to the friend’s personal page (aka Timeline). Click on the arrow to the right of the word “Following” and click “Unfollow,” which is the last option on the list.
  • Either way, the person will not be notified that you have stopped following them, and they can still see your posts.

How to Unfollow a Facebook Business Page

  • Go to the page and click to the right of the word “Following.”
  • Then click on the option “Unfollow this page” which appears at the top of a list of options.
  • You can also unfollow a page directly from your newsfeed by clicking on the three dots at the top right of the post and choosing “Unfollow.”
  • Either way, the owner of the page is not notified. However, if they check their analytics, they will see that someone unfollowed their page.

One more option is to “Snooze” a Facebook friend. You do this by clicking on the three dots at the top right of the post. Then, instead of clicking on Unfollow, click on “Snooze.” Clicking on “Snooze” keeps the friend’s posts from appearing in your newsfeed for the next 30 days.

After that time, the posts will return to your newsfeed. Then you can decide if you want to resume following the person or not. There is no option to “Snooze” the posts of a business page.
