Did you know there are 17 options to choose from when posting on a Facebook Business Page? Until a student prompted me to explain these more fully in a class, I had ignored most of these options.

This is a follow-up to last week’s post, which covered five of these options: 17 Options When Posting on a Facebook Business Page.

Here’s information on the rest.

12 More Options When You Post on a Facebook Business Page

  • If you click on the Advertise Your Business tab, Facebook gives you seven ways you can promote your business.
  • The Get Directions option creates a post with your cover photo. The post  includes your business name and the beginning part of brief description of your page. It also allows you to add a button that says Get Directions. This butto takes you to directions to your place of business.
  • Similarly, if you click on the Call Now option, the post looks much like the Get Directions option. But instead it allows you to place a Call Now button on your page. People using this button are placing a call to the phone number listed on your page. The same is true for the Get Messages option. Here a screen appears with the Send Message tab at the top of the page.
  • Click on Publish a Job Post to let folks know you have a job opening.  With such low employment, using this feature might help you find more employees. Leaders of network marketing teams could also use this type of post to recruit people for their teams.
  • Click on Create an Event for when your business page is hosting an event. A template will open for you to complete. Just as with other posts, you can edit this post, including making changes in the event.
  • The Create an Offer option allows your post to be an offer. The offer can have an expiration date, photo, online or physical redemption location. It can also have a promo code and any terms and conditions of the offer.
  • Clicking on Poll turns your post into a poll with two options. As you create these options, another slot will open for more options to be added if desired. If you wish, you can attach a photo or a GIF (short video) to each option. You determine how long you want the poll to run. You can make it be from a few hours to indefinitely.
  • The List option offers many topics you can select from on which to comment, or you can create your own topic. The idea here is that you will say something others want to comment on, increasing traffic and engagement on your page.
  • Finally, the Q&A option allows you start a dialogue on a topic by publishing questions and answers that should elicit discussion.

Please note that occasionally there may be a glitch in Facebook that keeps one or more of these options from working. I ran into one of these recently when I couldn’t get the List and the Q&A options to work. My recommendation is to wait a few days and try again.

How About You?

Have you used any of these options? Which ones? Do some bring more attention than others? Are there any that don’t appeal to you? Why?
