Hats off to Marie Leslie – one of my dearest business colleagues. She and her husband are relocating soon from the Denver area to South Carolina.

Recently, she and I had lunch, and I was so glad to get one more in-person visit with her before her big move. That’s when we had the photo taken that’s at the top of this blog post.

Do you take the time to let your business colleagues know how much they mean to you? Too often, we take these folks for granted and don’t publicly honor them as much as we could.

So, on the occasion of Marie’s moving to South Carolina, I thought I would tell you how much she has meant to me over the nearly 12 years we have known each other. Fortunately, Marie will continue to offer her marketing (including website design) and coaching services.

How Marie and I Got to Know Each Other

After I decided to create Boomers’ Social Media Tutor in 2010, I gradually started to expand my LinkedIn connections. One of the people I connected with in the summer of 2011 was Andrew Kret. Not long after we connected, I told him that I was looking for a website designer. Coincidentally, he had recently met one, also through LinkedIn. Her name was Marie Leslie, and he suggested that the two of us meet.

Marie and I met for coffee in September 2011 and hit it off immediately. Not only was she an experienced website designer, she also was very social media savvy. I felt so fortunate to have met someone like her!

By April of 2012, with the help of Marie, I launched my website. That same month I created my Facebook business page and started blogging regularly.

Marie patiently tutored me on how to add information to my website. She asked colleagues she knew through social media to like my Facebook page. I was so grateful for all she did for me.

Working With Marie Over the Years

Along with being so proficient with websites, Marie is a professional photographer. She’s taken many of the photos that I’ve used on my website and my social media.

In addition, she’s gifted at creating montages I’ve used for the banner of my website. I’ve also used them on my LinkedIn profile, LinkedIn company page, Facebook business page, and YouTube channel.

A few years ago, we collaborated on a revision of the layout of my website. I supplied the ideas, and she transformed them into a website that was more up-to-date and easier to navigate.

Recent Collaborations With Marie

In 2023, my 10th year of being full-time with my business, I decided to do a major marketing refresh. That refresh included getting a new logo, having new professional photos taken, and doing a video shoot.

Marie did a masterful job of incorporating the logo and photos into my website and my social media. Once the videos are ready, she’ll be adding those as well to my website. In addition, she and I will be collaborating on another website format update.

Summary

I’m incredibly grateful to have met Marie back in 2011 and still be closely connected with her. Despite the physical distance there will be between us, she’ll still be just a phone or Zoom call away.
