Sometimes it’s difficult to determine the frequency of Facebook posting. There are some general guidelines for how frequently to post on a business page. Yet, I’ve not seen much guidance on how often to post on one’s personal page.

In many ways, the best way to determine frequency of Facebook posting is to use common sense. Just like you wouldn’t want to dominate conversation at a social or business gathering, don’t post too often on Facebook. Do your best to add posts that create interest or add value in some way to those who read them.

Posting on Your Facebook Business Page

In researching this topic on the internet, I found this citation:

“Most studies agree that once per day is optimal, with a maximum of two posts per day. HubSpot found that pages under 10,000 fans experienced a 50% drop in engagement per post if they posted more than once per day. At a minimum, you should post to your Facebook Pages 3 times per week.”

However, if you only post once a week on your page, you can lose a connection with your page’s followers. I tend to post 2-3 times a week.

Another practice I’ve followed is to share a post from my business page to my personal page once a week. Doing so will broaden the reach of your post, since not all your friends follow your page.

An additional article I found in my research stressed the importance of posting on a consistent basis. So, if you have previously posted twice a week, be sure to continue to post twice a week.

It also stressed the value of quality content and having objectives for all your social media activity. https://www.sendible.com/insights/how-often-to-post-on-social-media

Posting on Your Facebook Personal Page

As I just mentioned, it’s fine to periodically share a business-related post to your personal page. You can share it from your business page or create a new post on your personal page.

However, I’d avoid posting too frequently on your personal page about business topics. Doing so could lead to people unfriending you, or they might unfollow you.

Posting a few times a week about personal topics, in my opinion, is about the right frequency of posting. What becomes annoying is when people post several times a day. To me, this is an overload of posts, and I may feel tempted to unfollow the Facebook friend. Or I might take a 30-day break from their posts by “snoozing” them.
