Are you using your Facebook Business Page to help promote other businesses?

There are plenty of ways to do this, and here are two of them:

  1. Like the pages of other businesses
  2. Share posts from other businesses pages on your business page.

Like the Pages of Other Businesses

Check out the “Liked by this Page” section of a business page that you follow. Up to three business pages may appear there.

How did that happen? Simple, the business page of another business “liked” that page. Here’s how you can do it too.

  • Search for a specific business page and click on the box with the name of the business
  • Click on the three horizontal dots at the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
  • Click on the option called “Liked as Your Page.”
  • If you have authority over more than one business page, be sure to pick the page that you want to show as liking this particular business page.
  • Click Submit and Okay.
  • Repeat as you are inclined with other business pages.
  • Now go to the settings on your own business page and click on Featured (on the left side with the other settings).
  • Click on Add Featured Likes.
  • Select three of the pages that you have liked by clicking on the boxes to the left of those three pages.
  • Those pages will now appear in the Liked by this Page section of your business page.

Share Posts from Other Businesses Pages on Your Business Page

When you share a post from a business page to your business page, the administrator of that page is notified that you have done so.

This does two good things. It lets that person know you have shared one of their posts and it may encourage them to return the favor. After all, if something they posted is appropriate for your page, the reverse is likely to be true too.

The types of pages where you might find material to share on your business page include those owned by your professional colleagues, clients, referral partners, and/or vendors.

  • Spend a little time on their pages and, when you see something you want to share, take as second to look at the photo to the right of the word “share”.
    • Why? Because the default is your personal account.
    • Be sure to click on the arrow to the right of that photo and select the profile photo associated with the page you want the post to appear on.
  • Click “Share” and then click “Share” once more.
  • Double check that it has your business page at the top of the post you are sharing. If it says, Share on your Timeline, click on the arrow to the right of those words and then click on Share on a Page You Manage. Be sure to select the page you want to share this to.
  • I like to type a short sentence or two about why I am sharing a particular post to my page.
  • If you like, you can reference the business page in this “intro” you write by “tagging” the page in your introductory comments.

How About You?

What ways have you had your business page promote other business pages? How has doing that changed your relationships with those businesses? Have they done the same for you? If you have never done this and decide to give it a try, please let us know how it goes.
