How Personal Should You Get in Your LinkedIn Posts?

People sometimes ask me “How personal should you get in your LinkedIn posts?” In researching this topic, I found a wide range of opinions, including lists of what not to post about. The piece that especially caught my eye and resonated with me was one by LinkedIn expert John Nemo. Entitled: “How ‘Getting Personal’ With Your LinkedIn Updates Can Drive Significant Reach,” Nemo argues for being personal on LinkedIn. Pay Attention When Someone Suggests a Business Idea to You

Do you pay attention when someone suggests a business idea to you? If you’re not doing that, I highly encourage you to do so. Recently, Riah Gonzalez of Linq Consulting Solutions interviewed me for her Client Experience Revolution Podcast. At the end of each podcast, she always asks her guests two questions: If there is just one idea that you would like the podcast listener to take away from the episode, what would it be? What’s the best piece of advice you have ever gotten? Before the podcast interview started, she gave me a heads-up that she would ask these [...]

A Toastmaster Tribute to Amal Al-Saffar

Recently I helped to recognize and pay a Toastmaster tribute to Amal Al-Saffar, a member of Excelsior Advanced Toastmasters. Amal joined our club last fall and quickly captured our hearts. She wanted the challenge of participating in our club with its highly experienced leaders and speakers.   Accomplishments of Amal Al-Saffar Amal’s been a gifted speaker and leader since she was young. As a teenager in her home country of [...]

What I Learned From the Book Inspire Integrity: Chase an Authentic Life

Lately I’ve been thinking a lot about what I learned from the book Inspire Integrity: Chase an Authentic Life by Corey Ciocchetti. The book came to my attention when he presented at the recent Toastmasters International convention. For those not familiar with Toastmasters, it’s the premier organization for helping people improve their communication and leadership skills. Learn more about the organization and the many benefits of membership at www.toastmasters.org.   Ciocchetti’s Basic Premise Ciocchetti’s mission is to inspire people to live an ethical life with high moral standards.
