Access LinkedIn from Your Computer – Not Just from Your Mobile App

On occasion, it is important to access LinkedIn from your computer - not just from your mobile app. Why? Well, while it’s true that for much of our social media activity, the mobile app works just fine. You can post, send, and receive connection invites, use internal messaging features, check your news feed, and more. However, there are some things you can’t do from LinkedIn’s mobile app. These may not be things you do often, but they are handy to know about. And knowing in advance that they must be done on a computer will save time and frustration.   [...]

Emphasize Your Strengths in Your LinkedIn Profile

It’s important to emphasize your strengths in your LinkedIn profile. Sometimes you might resist doing this for fear of sounding like you’re bragging. Take the StrengthsFinder assessment. Doing that will help you select which strengths to share and how to describe them   Background on the Strengths-Finder Assessment Psychologist Donald Clifton created this tool based on information from his research on people in leadership roles. Be More Memorable on LinkedIn – Publish Articles

Even though it takes time, energy, and commitment to publish articles regularly on LinkedIn’s publishing platform, I believe that investment pays off. My recommendation is to publish articles at least twice a month. Publishing weekly is even better. But consistency is as important – or more important – than what quantity you choose. After you have published an article, you can share it to your newsfeed. In addition, you can share your articles with selected LinkedIn connections. You might also want to share it to key clients and referral partners via LinkedIn messaging.   Reasons to Publish Articles on LinkedIn [...]

Are You Happy with Your LinkedIn Connections?

You may have heard the phrase: “We are who we associate with.” It applies to many aspects of our lives, including our social media presence, especially on LinkedIn. It’s best to take a strategic approach to whom you connect with. That way, you will be happy with your connections. When I am not sure whether I want to accept an invitation to connect, I look for our shared connections. And I assume people I invite to connect are doing the same thing. Too many LinkedIn users spend very little time on LinkedIn, often missing great opportunities to make connections. Here [...]
