Who is on your social media and marketing team? Even if you are a solopreneur, there are likely folks who are an integral part of your business.

Too many people try to “do it all” and then find themselves stressed out with a list of to do items that never seems to get completed.

Here are three people who are on my social media and marketing team and to whom I will be forever indebted.

Consulting Editor: Lisa Dicksteen of LMN Editorial

www.LMNEditorial.com

303d819[1]

Lisa and I met when she was a student of mine at Colorado Free University (CFU). She took my classes on using Facebook and Pinterest for online marketing as part of the CFU Social Media Manager Professional Certification program.

When I asked for her feedback on a blog post I had written about creating groups on Facebook, she offered to edit it, and she did a fabulous job. That’s when I decided to engage her services on a continuing basis.

A gifted writer and editor, Lisa polishes up the content of my weekly blog posts – this one included. These posts provide useful all sorts of tips, tricks, advice, and information in the most accessible and readable form possible. That way my clients and other readers can use them to make the most of their social media experience.

If you get a chance, and are in the Denver area, sign up for Lisa’s “Writing for the Web” class at Colorado Free University – http://www.freeu.com/

It has been great to see her evolve from student to teacher!

And if you’re not local, or don’t want to take the class, you can bring her in to edit (or write) just about anything you have in mind.

Graphic Designer Lynda O’Mara of LOmara Designs

2f2992a[1]

Lynda and I met through a group called By Women for Women (BW4W), whose mission is to build a community where women can access the resources and support they need to be successful in a business they love.

Lynda has been a great support to me, especially because she has been in business much longer than I have. With her creativity and eye for design, she tweaked my logo to make it a bit more eye-catching, and did a great redesign of my business cards.

The biggest project we have done together has been my rack cards. In case you haven’t heard of a rack card, here is the official Wikipedia definition:

“A rack card is a document used for commercial advertising, frequently in convenience stores, hotels, landmarks, restaurants, rest areas and other locations that enjoy significant foot traffic. Rack cards are typically 4 by 9 inches in size and sport high-impact graphic design.”

Lynda provided me expert guidance as I prepared the content for these cards. One thing she recommended that I would not have thought of was adding some tips that would make a person more likely to hang onto the card for future reference. That led me to create a list called “Five top Tips for Using Social Media” which she artfully arranged on the card.

When I handed out these cards at a recent business networking festival, many people wanted to know where I got them and who designed them. They have definitely been a bit hit.

Website Designer: Marie Leslie of Marie Leslie Designs

http://marieleslie.com/

151df49[1]

I was introduced to Marie through LinkedIn by mutual LinkedIn connection – a great example of the site performing exactly as it was designed.

After Marie created my website, she helped me to better understand WordPress (the language in which my site is written). Now I can make most of the necessary changes to my website and I have been publishing my weekly blog posts as part of that site since it was created in April of 2012.

In addition, Marie has been a social media mentor for me, as she is quite active on the major social media sites. Because of her connections in a Facebook group, she was able to encourage members of that group to like my Facebook business page, which was a great benefit to me.

Marie is also the creator of the cover photos for my Facebook and Google+ pages and the design work for my Twitter account. She helps me to maintain consistency in my branding across social media sites as well as on my website.

How About You?

Who are the folks on your social media and marketing team? How do help your business succeed? It would be great to hear about other solopreneurs like me who have people like Lisa, Lynda and Marie as part of their business.
