Do you ever wonder about which types of videos to use in video marketing? I recently turned to Beth Klepper, founder of Mainstream Video Production, for some guidance on this topic. I’ve worked with Beth and her team for over seven years to create videos for my website and social media.

Before we had our consultation last week, Beth had reviewed the videos I currently have on my website and social media and made suggestions for the types of videos I should use.

Three Types of Videos

There are three basic types of videos to use in video marketing:

  1. Those that make the audience more likely to trust me. These videos have information about my professional background and authority.
  2. Those that appeal to the emotions of the audience. These videos have information about the problems the audience might have and how I can solve those problems.
  3. Those that appeal to the logical thinking of the audience. These videos address why my services are the right solutions for those considering working with me.

Beth recommends that I use videos that relate to my professional background in the About Us section of my website. They can also work well in social media posts.

The videos that include emotional appeals are best suited to my home page. My potential clients can watch the videos to determine if what I have to offer addresses the problems they have.

Then the videos that relate to making logical decisions belong in my “Work with Joyce” section. They get into how I structure my tutoring sessions and what I charge for my services.

 

Ways to Generate Ideas for Videos

Beth provided me a number of ways to find ideas for what to include in videos. Here’s a few of them:

  • Check out my most watched YouTube videos to determine what my audience likes.
  • Review my LinkedIn posts that got the most attention and see if I can convert them into videos.
  • Make a list of my most frequently asked questions, and create videos that cover each question.
