There’s a power in belonging to Facebook Groups.

In the last two months, I’ve upped my involvement in a handful of groups, having terrific experiences as a result. In this blog post, I will share with you some of my experiences in three of these groups.

Since all these groups are private Facebook groups, I’m not giving out their exact names. If you want to know more about any of them, please contact me at joyce@boomerssocialmediatutor.com

People Who Want to Step Up Their LinkedIn Presence

Do you want to step up your LinkedIn presence? Yes, it may seem odd to have a group all about LinkedIn on Facebook. Yet, this group has over 400 members and is led by a well-regarded LinkedIn coach.

What drew me to this group was the commitment the group’s founder has to helping others up their LinkedIn game. She’s a tremendous role model for the group members, regularly challenging us to follow in her footsteps.

In the short time I’ve been part of this group, I’ve gotten more consistent with my LinkedIn posting. Plus, I’m doing a better job of engaging with the posts of key referral partners, which has led to more referrals.

Podcast Hosts and Guests

Do you host a podcast and are looking for guests? Or perhaps, like me, do you want to be a guest on more podcasts? When my daughter told me about a particular Facebook group that helped these folks find each other, I was so excited!

It’s hosted by folks who offer a paid subscription service which helps to match podcast hosts and guests. With over 13,000 Facebook group members, there is a wide range of podcast hosts and guests.

I’ve committed to checking the posts by the podcast hosts on a regular basis. As a result of doing that, in the last week, I’ve been booked on two podcasts.

Also, I decided to sign up with the subscription service offered by the company hosting the group. Completing their questionnaire helped me get clarity on the kind of podcasts where I want to be a guest. It also led me to do a better job of promoting myself as a podcast guest.

Women Entrepreneurs

Recently, I met a woman from the Tampa, Florida area who is an entrepreneur, author and all-around dynamo! We bonded immediately during a Zoom one-to-one visit.

I decided to join a group of women entrepreneurs she started over three years ago. Doing so gave me access to their Facebook group of nearly 600 members.

Although originally a face-to-face group, since the pandemic it has expanded into a virtual group that connects via Facebook. There are regular meetings via Zoom.

Recently, I attended a virtual event that raised money for their local chapter of the international organization Dress for Success. This was a special event only for the ambassador arm of the group.

According to their website, the mission of Dress for Success is to “empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.”

At this event, members of the group shared about their services and ways for other members to connect with them. Also, as a perk of being an ambassador, I’ve also been able to tell other members of the group about my services via Facebook Live.
