Ever feel overwhelmed by all the updates from your Facebook friends and posts by people you follow on Twitter? Have you ever considered segmenting these folks into different lists for easier sorting?
Each of these sites has a system that allows you to segment your connections and filter your news feeds so you see posts by subject or any other segmentation that works for you
Create Lists on Facebook: Only You Will Know
- Just go to the Friends section on your Home Page and hover your cursor over the word “more.”
- This will reveal the lists Facebook has created for you.
- “Archive” the ones you don’t use.
- Click on the “Create Lists” button.
- Give each new list the name of your choice.
- For each list, begin typing the names of Facebook friends you want in a particular list and add them as they appear.
- Consider making the list a favorite, which makes it appear under Favorites in the top left section of your Home Page.
- The list possibilities are endless, but could include organizations you belong to, current and/or former co-workers, people with shared interests, etc.
- To see what is up with the folks in a particular list, just click on a list to see only the postings from whomever you have assigned to that list.
Create Lists on Twitter: These Can Be Public or Private
- Go to the tab that says “Me.”
- Click on “Lists.”
- Click on “Create List.”
- Give your list a name and decide whether you want it to be private or public.
- Private lists are like the ones on Facebook – only you know that you assigned that person to that list.
- Public lists can be seen by anyone who looks at your lists.
- Search for individuals appropriate to that list and add them.
- The list possibilities are the same as they are for Facebook, plus companies and other entities.
How About You?
