Earlier this month, I released the sixth edition of my ebook “9 Ways to Stand Out on LinkedIn.”
First published in 2015, this resource has evolved over the years — thanks to a wonderful team of collaborators.
In nine easy-to-read chapters, the ebook shares:
✅ Practical tips to improve your LinkedIn profile
✅ Ideas to strategically expand your network
✅ Guidance on how to share content and engage more effectively
Origin of This eBook
This ebook grew from a series of videos I created under the capable direction of Beth Klepper, owner of Mainstream Video Productions, and Erica Jaffe, a freelance videographer and owner of Staccato Productions.
The video series came about because I wanted to offer a resource for people who were relatively unfamiliar with LinkedIn. The short videos we created addressed many of the questions they frequently asked me.
Over time, I realized that many people prefer learning by reading, not just by watching video. So, each chapter of the ebook now includes both written content and a short video for added support.
Updating the eBook
Since LinkedIn has evolved since I published the first edition of my ebook in 2015, I’ve published updates every couple of years.
What’s fascinating to me is that most of the basic features of LinkedIn haven’t changed over the years.
Here are some LinkedIn features that have remained consistent:
- Customizing a LinkedIn profile URL
- Creating a post or article
- Engaging with the content shared by others
- Extending invitations to connect and accepting invitations from others
- Giving recommendations and asking for recommendations
There have been changes in the layout of the LinkedIn profile and in the functionality of the site.
I’ve addressed these changes by using a “B” roll for each video. You hear my voice as my videographer follows my directions for the steps involved in each chapter.
Since this ebook is intended for people with minimal experience on LinkedIn, I keep to the basics for each chapter in the ebook.
A Shoutout to My Team
- Erica Jaffe has been my videographer for all six editions of my ebook. Her creativity, patience and attention to detail consistently result in high-quality, easy-to-follow videos that are well-received by their viewers.
- Debbie Stratton of Design Dog Studio was the graphic designer for the sixth edition. Her eye for color and design tremendously enhanced the overall look of the ebook.
- Anne Feustel of Writing Wisely has edited almost all the editions of my ebook. She consistently helps me to clarify and streamline what I write. Along with guiding me on the “big picture” of approaching a topic, she provides me with specific details that need changing.
- Mary Gaul of Success Magnified has expertly coached me on creating and promoting this new edition. She helped shape the PR campaign and hosted me on a LinkedIn Live event to share insights from the ebook.
