Get More Engagement on Your Facebook Business Page
Pages with more engagement in the form of likes, comments, and shares get more visibility. That means the posts from these pages are more likely to be seen in the news feeds of those who have liked the page.
So, how do you increase engagement? Buffer Social published a terrific article in September 2017 called “Post Less, Boost Top Posts, and More: 14 Ways to Increase Page Engagement.”
Some of Their Suggestions Include:
- Post when your page’s fans are on Facebook. Go to your page’s Insights section and click on Posts. Then click on “When your fans are on online.” This will let you know your fans’ Facebook schedules. Then you can use the scheduling tool to publish your posts during these times. You can also use a tool like Buffer or Hootsuite to schedule your posts.
- Watch other Facebook business pages. By using the handy “Pages to Watch” feature, you can compare your page’s performance to the performances of similar pages. Study those pages to get ideas for ways to make improvements on yours.
- Boost and recycle your top posts. Regularly review the responses you get to your posts. Then, even with a small investment, you can pay Facebook to boost the ones that perform the best. Periodically repurpose your top posts by updating them or changing the image.
- Use video, especially Facebook live video. Facebook reports that people tend to watch Facebook live videos more than other videos and are more likely to comment on them as well.
- Reply to all comments. People are more likely to comment again if you respond. Use their first name and personalize your response. When they respond back, be sure to keep up your side of the “conversation.”

A Few More Ideas to Increase Engagement
- Ask your fans to click on “See First” in the Follow section. Doing that makes it more likely they will see posts from your page toward the top of their news feed.
- Encourage your fans to get notified about posts in their globe icon. Tell them to go to the Following section and click on the pencil to the right of Notifications, then click on the circle by Standard to set receive notifications of all posts on your page.
- Suggest that your fans like and comment often. Ask them to share their favorite posts from your business page to their own page. Tell them to please make sure to mark it “Public,” rather than “Friends.” That way, their Facebook friends can share it as well.
