Give Back to Your Community By Sharing Your Expertise

Do you give back to your community by sharing your expertise? This week, I had another opportunity to help GED students at a local high school learn about LinkedIn. My experience volunteering with these students is incredibly gratifying, as I love introducing LinkedIn to young people. Having a LinkedIn account is just as important as having a resume, no matter how old you are. Some of these students may not be motivated to create a LinkedIn profile now. Yet at least I will have planted a seed with them about the value of LinkedIn. How are you sharing your expertise [...]

Getting Feedback on Your LinkedIn Profile

How do you like to get feedback on your LinkedIn profile? Do you prefer to get feedback in a private setting between you and the expert giving the feedback? Or would you prefer to get input in front of a small group of people who are also getting it? Maybe both approaches appeal to you.   One-to-One Tutoring Sessions Typically, my clients engage my tutoring services via a two-session package, though I also offer single sessions. Most sessions are conducted virtually over Zoom, though upon request, I meet in person with clients in the Denver area where I live. In [...]

Benefits of Mentioning Others on LinkedIn

Have you considered the benefits of mentioning others on LinkedIn? (Mentioning on LinkedIn is comparable to tagging on Facebook and Instagram.) These are a bunch of people who are powerful and important to me and my business. I recommend that you get to know them and be better, stronger and happier for it.” He then mentioned 20 people, and I was honored to be one of them. So, I wrote a [...]

LinkedIn Training for CU Denver Change Makers

Recently, I conducted LinkedIn training for participants in the Change Makers program through the University of Colorado Denver. The time with them flew by, as they had so many questions about LinkedIn. This wonderful experience energized me. The participants in the semester’s program are 56 to 74 and looking for what to do next. Some are currently in the workforce, and some have retired relatively recently. The folks I spoke to are in the 10th week of this 14-week program, which involves twice-a-week classes. The program is structured to provide the participants with plenty of opportunities for self-reflection. It [...]

Launching a LinkedIn Newsletter

Have you considered launching a LinkedIn newsletter? If you’ve already done so, it would be great to hear about your experiences. I’ll launch my LinkedIn newsletter on February 9, and I’m excited about this venture. A part of my plans to start this newsletter, I’ve turned to LinkedIn and other sources to learn what’s involved. Also, I’ve reviewed a handful of newsletters published by colleagues to get ideas on format and topics. You might be wondering what’s involved with a LinkedIn newsletter. Instead of publishing articles individually, as you would when you post, you can publish them through your branded [...]
