On occasion, it is important to access LinkedIn from your computer – not just from your mobile app.

Why? Well, while it’s true that for much of our social media activity, the mobile app works just fine. You can post, send, and receive connection invites, use internal messaging features, check your news feed, and more.

However, there are some things you can’t do from LinkedIn’s mobile app. These may not be things you do often, but they are handy to know about. And knowing in advance that they must be done on a computer will save time and frustration.

LinkedIn Activities You Can Only Do on Your Computer

  • Adjust how your messages are sent. Only on the computer will you see the three dots to the right of the blue Send button what you need to click on to access the menu you need to change the default from “Press Enter to Send” to “Click Send.”
  • Use the Manage All feature in the My Network tab to message potential connections. If you click on Manage All (above your pending invites), you can message people who have sent you an invite. Doing this is important if you want to communicate with them before deciding whether to accept or decline.
  • Use the Manage All feature to see who you have sent invites. Click on the Send tab and scroll through those invites. You might want to email some to let them know they have an invite waiting.
  • Go to the Privacy section of Settings and edit your Public Profile. In addition to changing information in your profile, you can customize your LinkedIn URL and make sure your profile is visible to someone looking you up in an internet search.
  • Go to the Communications section of Settings and Privacy and edit your email frequency. Select which types of emails you want to get and determine how often you want to get them.
