How to be a Ninja Virtual Networker

I'm delighted to share this guest blog post by Susan Mann of N-Compass TV Colorado, whom I recently met through a business networking group. She's a very successful networker in the business world and offered to share these tips with the readers of my blog post. Thanks, Susan! In these crazy days of COVID-19, everything you thought you knew about networking has changed. Overnight, sometime in March, a new way of having meaningful connections emerged - the Zoom Virtual Networking Meeting. While some networking groups are beginning to meet in person again (distanced or not) and some hybrid meetings are [...]

Thankful for the Alternative Business Networking Group (ABNG)

As we approach Thanksgiving, I’m feeling very thankful for the Alternative Business Networking Group (ABNG). This remarkable organization recently celebrated its 9th anniversary.   What is ABNG? Quoting from part of the About section of the ABNG Meetup group: “At the Alternate Business Networking Group (ABNG) we want to attract members that are not only interested in getting referrals, but also want to give of themselves to encourage and help strengthen the businesses of the other group members. And, of course, we want to pass along quality referrals we may have. The key to a truly effective business network is [...]

Publicize Meetup Events Through Facebook and LinkedIn

Are you making the best use of Facebook and LinkedIn to publicize your Meetup events? More and more business events are held through Meetup groups these days. By promoting them on these social media sites, you increase the chances of more people knowing about and attending them.   Review Your Meetup Group Photo and Profile Before you start taking my advice, check your Meetup profile. Make Business Networking Worth Your While

Do you ever wonder if business networking is worth your while? If done effectively, business networking can contribute positively to your bottom line. Every year, I find that over 70% of the revenue for my business is the result of business networking. Although I’ve been skilled at such networking for many years, I continue to seek resources to help me with this important activity. The person I turn to consistently for professional guidance regarding this is Alyce Blum. A certified networking coach and consultant, she hosts a terrific monthly Meetup in Denver. The purpose of the group is to help [...]

Voices in Aging – an Awesome Experience

This weekend-long event, held November 3-5, 2017, and officially called Voices in Aging: The Business of Aging had an enormous impact on me. By intermingling thought-provoking keynotes with dynamic interactive sessions, this event challenged me intellectually. It also brought out both the team player and the leader within me, and it encouraged me to foster deep connections with others. It even brought me to tears at times. Sponsored by The Society of Certified Senior Advisors (SCSA), who began planning for it over a year ago, it was indeed an awesome experience. I am so grateful to Judy Rough, Senior Director [...]

Determining Which Business Networking Groups Are Best for You

Finding the business networking groups that fit you best can be a big challenge. In the Denver area where I live, there are hundreds of groups to choose from. The same is likely true where you live. So, it can be difficult even for someone well-versed in networking to determine the best fit. And someone brand-new to the business networking scene can find it quite overwhelming. One of the best groups I’ve found is a Meetup called #5280Inspired Meetup: Connect and Build a Strong Network. It was founded in early 2015 by Alyce Blum, a networking coach and consultant, to [...]
