Do you give back to your business community? The folks with Denver-based YellowDog, a design, print and marketing firm, do a terrific job of giving back! YellowDog Hosts Canva Workshop

Just recently, I had the good fortune of attending a fun and informative event hosted by this generous company. Over 40 people participated in an interactive workshop, “Canva and Cocktails,” led by Jenny Mulligan, the company’s president.

As she demonstrated a variety of ways of using Canva, she encouraged the participants to create their own designs. Jenny’s presentation was very well-received by those in attendance and many asked for a Canva 2.0 event.

Canva is a free graphic design platform that simplifies the process of digital design. Users can also access additional features by paying a relatively small fee. Learn more about Canva at https://www.canva.com/

Instead of viewing Canva as a “compete” to their design business, the YellowDog folks actually help people to use Canva. After their clients create designs in Canva, YellowDog can print them in a multitude of ways.

Also, the company provides a wide range of frequently used templates on their website at https://yellowdogdenver.com/downloadable-templates/

Some Canva Tips from the Experts at YellowDog

  • Create a custom “brand kit,” which includes your logo, established color palettes, and brand fonts. You can easily upload these items into Canva to use as you create your designs. Or, YellowDog’s design team can get you set up with a pro-level “brand kit” in your Canva account.
  • Resize artwork and files for different uses with Canva’s resize tool. Also, Canva has created pre-set templates for each type of social media platform.
  • Use Canva’s background remover to create fun visuals. Canva makes it easy to simply remove the background and place the image over your brand colors or patterns.
  • Create a custom signature for a personalized touch. Sign your name on a piece of paper with a thick pen and take a photo of it. Then import the photo into Canva. Using the background remover tool, you can save the file and use it in your designs.
  • Change any design with the click of a button. Canva’s style tab allows you to easily make a change in your font or your branding colors.
