Positive reviews on Facebook and other social media sites are critical to your company’s success. But not everyone knows how to increase their chances of receiving them.

Does your Facebook business page show the review function? Too many pages don’t even make this function available. To see if your page does, look for Reviews on the left side of the page. If it’s there, click on it, and the review section will appear in the middle of your page.

To see all your reviews, click on the Most Recent tab at the top of the section. You might also want to see which reviews Facebook thinks are most helpful. So click on that tab to find out.

If you don’t see Reviews, this next section will explain how to make it show.

Allow People to Write Reviews on Your Page

  • Start at the Settings tab.
  • Click on the word Edit to the right of the Reviews settings.
  • Be sure the box beside the words Allow Visitors to Review the Page is checked.
  • Sadly, the default is that the other box is checked – the one that says Disable Reviews.
  • Please note that the review function may not be available for your business page. However, I have noticed that more pages have this function than was previously the case.

Solicit Positive Reviews

  • Ask your “raving fans” to write reviews. Each of us has clients and others who say they would do anything to help us. So, take them up on that offer.
  • Send an email to each of them, including the URL of your business page.
  • Ask them to like the page.
  • Then ask them to click on the word Review on the left side of the page.
  • Once the review function is open they can select how many stars (out of 5) to give your company.
  • Then a box will open where they can type their review. Each review must include at least 50 characters.
  • To write a review from a mobile device, the person just needs to search for the business page. Then click on the word Reviews in the line containing the words Home, About, etc.
  • From there, the process is the same as described above.
  • When people write a review on your business page, you will be notified by Facebook. Click on the notification. Read the review. Like it. Then write a short note of thanks in the comments section.

Visitor Posts are Not Positive Reviews

  • Someone may tell you they already wrote glowing things about your company on your business page. It’s likely they did this as a post to your page, not as a review.
  • Positive posts like this are great, and you should encourage your fans to write them. But these are not reviews, and reviews are more important overall.

How About You?

Does your business page allow visitors to write a review? How have you solicited positive reviews of your company on your business page? What has been the response to these requests?
