Selecting the Right Photos to Use on Facebook

Do you need help with selecting the right photos to use on Facebook? Photos and other images typically enhance the reach of a post. Even with the increasing use of videos, photos still provide a big impact. Yet, sometimes it’s hard to know which ones and how many to post. Certainly, the selection of photos is largely a matter of personal style and preference. But there are some general guidelines I have come up with as both social media professional and user. And while I usually focus on Facebook business pages in my blog posts, this post covers all your [...]

Have you ever thought about the relationship between your business presence and your personal presence on Facebook? Neither is right or wrong, so here’s some suggestions for both approaches.   Successfully Blend Your Personal and Business Lives on Facebook Clearly associate your personal page with your business life. Audiences for Posts on Your Personal Page on Facebook

Did you know that you can adjust the audiences for posts on your personal page on Facebook? Posts we make on our Facebook business page are public. The default audience for our personal page is Friends, meaning anyone who is a Facebook friend can see the post. However, there are times when having an audience of Public can make sense. At other times, using the option of “Friends Except…” is the best fit. If you want as many people as possible to see your post, use the Public option. Then, if a Facebook friend shares your post, all her/his friends [...]

Connecting Your Facebook Business Page with a Facebook Group

Have you ever thought of connecting your Facebook business page with a Facebook group? For many years, you could only join a Facebook group as yourself, not as your business page. Also, a Facebook business page couldn’t create a group on Facebook. Things have changed, and fortunately, this is a change on Facebook that’s a good one. As you likely know, only a small percentage of the folks who like your page will typically see the posts on your page. Despite this challenge, I still suggest that people create a business page and post to it periodically. Doing so is [...]

Facebook Friend Requests and Difficult Facebook Friends

Two common questions I get about Facebook relate to Facebook friend requests and dealing with difficult Facebook friends. Regarding friend requests, I suggest you create a set of criteria to help you determine whether to accept them. There could be times that you deviate, but if you have it, life becomes much simpler. As for difficult Facebook friends, there are several options of various levels of extremity.   How to Reduce the Number of Friend Requests You Receive Before I go into some possible criteria for accepting requests, I want to step back and talk about your settings. To cut [...]

Use Facebook and LinkedIn to Recruit and Retain Employees

Nowadays there is a very low unemployment rate in the US and especially here in Colorado. This situation challenges employers to find creative ways to recruit and retain employees. How often do you use book to Facebook to spread the word about a nonprofit? Many of us are involved with nonprofits, whether as employees, volunteers, or donors.   One Example: Warren Village Recently I was helping a new client, a job seeker, to better understand Facebook, especially its business pages. According to their mission statement on their Facebook Business page, “Warren Village exists so that low-income, single-parent families can achieve sustainable personal and economic self-sufficiency.” Here’s a link to their page: https://www.facebook.com/WarrenVillage/ As it [...]
