Keeping Up with the Fundamental Changes to Your Facebook Business Page

Have you been keeping up with the fundamental changes to your Facebook business page? These changes have taken place in the last few months, and have significantly altered the user experience. Recently, a client asked me to help her make a few simple adjustments to her business page. It it took us the better part of an hour to make those simple adjustments. That’s when I realized I’d better start getting more familiar with the latest format and experience of using Facebook business pages. During the session with my client, I quickly learned that navigating on the page has changed. [...]

Ways to Appreciate Others on Facebook and LinkedIn

One of the many things people ask me is to show them ways to appreciate others on Facebook and LinkedIn. In this post, I’ll focus on ways that relate to your business relationships with others, rather than your personal relationships. Also, I’m expanding the concept of appreciation to include promoting others as well as thanking them. Acknowledging others on these social sites is an important part of enhancing these business relationships. Consider creating a system of reminders so that you remember to take the time to honor others.   Appreciate Others on Facebook Like their Facebook business page and encourage [...]

Older Adults – You Can Stay Safe on Facebook While Enjoying Yourself

To my fellow older adults – you can stay safe on Facebook while enjoying yourself! As we approach the holiday season, we are likely to be spending even more time than usual on Facebook. Therefore, this is a good time to focus on the benefits and challenges of being on this social media site. There so many benefits for seniors to be had by being active on Facebook (and other types of social media). For example, Alissa Bauer’s article in the August 3, 2020 issue of Senior Living Blog includes such benefits as: Connecting with family members who live far [...]

Many Benefits of Participating in Facebook Groups

There are many benefits of participating in Facebook Groups. Over time, Facebook has changed the rules on how many people see the posts on Facebook business pages. Therefore, more business people are becoming more active in Facebook groups to reach a wider audience. Some groups are associated with an organization that meets in real life. (Or for now, that group may be meeting virtually.) Some business people may offer exclusive Facebook groups for their clients. Still other groups might be for people in a shared industry. In my case, I've been part of all these kinds of groups and see [...]

Yet, immediately the project felt a bit daunting. Before I continue with my experience, let me explain how this challenge works. If you are nominated for the 10-day mom challenge, you being asked to post 10 different photos over 10 consecutive days - one photo each day. The photos you choose need to relate to you as a mom. It could be of you [...]

How to Stop Following Facebook Friends and Business Pages

Have you wanted to know how to stop following Facebook friends and business pages? Unfollowing a Facebook friend allows you to stop receiving posts without unfriending them, which can be awkward. Facebook doesn’t notify someone that you unfriended them. However, once you have unfriended someone, you could come up in the list of people they might want to friend. If this happens, the person may wonder why you are on that list, being they thought the two of you are already friends. And while you may have wanted to see posts from a business page when you first liked the [...]

Frequency of Facebook Posting

Sometimes it’s difficult to determine the frequency of Facebook posting. There are some general guidelines for how frequently to post on a business page. Yet, I’ve not seen much guidance on how often to post on one’s personal page. In many ways, the best way to determine frequency of Facebook posting is to use common sense. Just like you wouldn’t want to dominate conversation at a social or business gathering, don’t post too often on Facebook. Do your best to add posts that create interest or add value in some way to those who read them.   Posting on Your [...]
